Al barsha Majlis
Residential
The Vision
This project focuses on the interior transformation of a private family villa located in Al Barsha,
Dubai. The residence consists of three bedrooms, a living and sitting area on the ground floor,
and a master bedroom located on the upper level.
At the time the project was commissioned, the villa was already occupied by the family. This
required the redesign process to be approached with careful planning and sensitivity, ensuring
that the interventions could be implemented gradually without disrupting the daily life of the
residents.
A key focus of the project was the majlis and adjacent dining area, which originally lacked clear
spatial definition. The existing layout presented several architectural challenges, including a
relatively low ceiling height and the presence of structural columns within the space that
visually disrupted the overall balance of the interior.
Additionally, the dining area and the seating space were directly connected, and the client
requested a more refined spatial separation to create a clearer hierarchy between the social and
dining zones.
To address this challenge, a custom movable partition system was introduced. The partition
was designed to be both functional and elegant, allowing the space to be visually divided when
needed while maintaining flexibility for larger gatherings. When not in use, the partition can be
neatly integrated against the wall, preserving the openness of the room.
Material and texture selection played an essential role in redefining the atmosphere of the
interior. Warmer finishes, refined textures, and carefully balanced tones were introduced to
soften the architectural constraints and enhance the overall spatial experience.
The final design establishes a harmonious balance between functionality, flexibility, and
aesthetic refinement, transforming the majlis and dining areas into a cohesive and sophisticated
living environment that reflects both comfort and contemporary elegance.
