The Vision
Weekend Escape Villa – Bohemian Coastal Retreat | Sharjah
Located in Khorfakkan, one of the most scenic coastal and mountainous cities of Sharjah, this
villa was designed as a relaxing weekend escape for a family of five. The owners, who are based
in Abu Dhabi, use this house as a retreat for short stays, holidays, and weekend getaways—
making the design brief very different from that of a typical full-time residence.
The main concept of this project was to create a clear emotional transition from urban life to a
calm, nature-inspired environment. Instead of replicating the structured and formal atmosphere
of city living, the interior was designed to evoke a sense of relaxation, warmth, and freedom.
To achieve this, the design follows a bohemian-inspired aesthetic, characterized by layered
textures, earthy tones, and a relaxed spatial composition. Natural materials such as wood, woven
fabrics, linen, and handcrafted elements were introduced throughout the space to enhance the
tactile experience and create a welcoming, lived-in atmosphere.
The color palette draws inspiration from the surrounding coastal landscape and mountainous
terrain, combining soft neutral bases with warm terracotta, sand tones, and muted greens.
These colors not only reflect the natural environment of Khorfakkan but also help create a
soothing ambiance that contrasts with the fast pace of urban life.
Furniture selection and decorative elements were carefully curated to reinforce the bohemian
character of the villa—featuring comfortable seating, natural textiles, artisanal accessories, and
layered materials that add depth and personality to the interiors.
Ultimately, the design aims to provide the family with a peaceful sanctuary where they can
disconnect from their everyday routine and reconnect with nature, relaxation, and family time.
The result is a warm and inviting holiday home that blends casual elegance with a distinctive
sense of place.
